PRODUCTION OF RHAMNOLIPID BIOSURFACTANT FROM A MARINE Pseudomonas aeruginosa

چکیده
Biosurfactants are surface-active agents produced by hydrocarbanoclastic bacteria isolated from oil contaminated sites. In the present study a potential oil degrading bacterium was isolated from Cuddalore harbor waters and identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by using both biochemical and 16S rRNA sequencing. Growth optimization of the strain was done against varying physiochemical parameters viz., Temperature, pH, salinity, incubation period, carbon source and nitrogen source. Mass scale cultivation was done using optimum parameters viz., 35 o C, pH, 1.5 % salinity, sucrose as carbon source and ammonium nitrate as nitrogen source. At 72hrs of incubation period, maximum growth was observed. 1.35mg/ml of biosurfactant in shake flask and 2.5mg/ml was obtained in laboratory scale fermentor. FTIR study proved that it was a rhamnolipid. © 2013 Universal Research Publications. All rights reserved

PRODUCTION OF BIOSURFACTANTS (RHAMNOLIPIDS) BY Pseudomonas aeruginosa ISOLATED FROM COLOMBIAN SLUDGES
he biosurfactant production by strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Colombian hydrocarbon contaminated sludges has been determined. The methodology included the isolation of microorganisms, standardization of batch culture conditions for good surfactant production and characterization of the produced rhamnolipid. Several carbon sources were evaluated with regard to the growth and pro...

A novel rhamnolipid biosurfactant-producing and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH)-degrading bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain NY3 was isolated from petroleum-contaminated soil samples. Strain NY3 was characterized by its extraordinary capacity to produce structurally diverse rhamnolipids. A total of 25 rhamnolipid components and 37 different parent molecular ions, representing various...

Production of a rhamnolipid biosurfactant by cells of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain BN10 immobilized into poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and polyacrylamide (PAAm) cryogels was investigated under semicontinuous shake flask conditions and compared to biosurfactant secretion by free cells. The biosurfactant synthesis was followed over 9 cycles of operation of the immobilized system, each cycle compris...
متن کاملEnhancement of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Growth and Rhamnolipid Production Using Iron-Silica Nanoparticles in Low-Cost Medium
The application of iron-silica (Fe-Si) nanoparticles for the enhancement of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa growth and rhamnolipid production in molasses medium was studied. The experiments were designed based on the response surface method (RSM) to optimize growth and rhamnolipid production. The concentration of nanoparticles and the time required to add nanoparticles to culture medium were conside...

In this work, biosurfactant production by a Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain was optimized using low-cost substrates. The highest biosurfactant production (3.2 g/l) was obtained using a culture medium containing corn steep liquor (10% (v/v)) and molasses (10% (w/v)). The biosurfactant reduced the surface tension of water up to 30 mN/m, and exhibited a high emulsifying activity (E24=60%), with a cr...
